Atlantic Coast Recycling

Atlantic Coast Recycling

JRS Architect, P.C. undertook the challenge of designing a cutting-edge, 125,000 square foot state-of-the-art recycling plant for Atlantic Coast Recycling, necessitated by a relocation following a fire.

Situated along the Passaic River, the project presented significant challenges, including the requirement for a comprehensive 100-year flood plan. To address these concerns, the building was repositioned further from the river and elevated by two feet to create essential storm water drainage space underneath the structure, ensuring both safety and operational soundness.

Completed under a fast-track schedule, the facility boasts a meticulously designed layout that enhances operational efficiency. It includes dual access points for recycling trucks, two scales for accurate material measurement, a spacious bale storage room, loading docks, and a modern two-story office area. Additionally, the plant features a dedicated mechanic shop, all tailored to support its high-capacity operation of processing up to 50 tons of recycled material per hour.

This design not only optimizes productivity but also aptly navigates the site’s complex environmental and logistical challenges, setting a new standard in recycling plant infrastructure.
