    Interior Design Intern

    JRS Architect, P.C. currently has an Interior Design Intern position available in our Mineola, NY office. This role provides support to the Interior Designer in a variety of areas.

    Essential Job Functions:

    1. Supports maintaining the Interiors Library as directed by the Interior Designer
    2. Interacts with vendors to keep the Interiors Library current
    3. Assists in sourcing samples as directed by the Design Team
    4. Works with the Interior Designer to support developing interior design concepts
    5. Participates in Project Team meetings as required
    6. Keeps abreast of industry design trends/developments and informs the Interior Designer
    7. Assists in identifying green materials

    Additional Expectations:

    1. Adheres to JRS Architect, P.C. policies, procedures and practices
    2. Performs other duties as assigned/required

    Architectural Project Manager

    JRS is seeking an architectural degree graduate with 3 to 5 plus years of consecutive work experience in the corporate, financial and healthcare sectors with preferred experience also in education, retail and/or hospitality. The candidate will need a proven track record in interior fit outs with experience in adaptive reuse and ground up for this Architectural Project Manager position.

This position will be client and vendor facing and includes travel to client sites. As a “flat” organization, this position works directly across of all of the JRS team.

     

    Basic Requirements of Architectural Project Manager:

    • Minimum 4-year Architectural Degree
    • 3 to 5 plus years’ project management and construction administration experience in an architectural position with the ability to demonstrate the listed competencies and skills

    Required Experience for Architectural Project Manager:

    • Corporate, financial and healthcare sectors with preferred experience also in retail and/or hospitality
    • Interior fit outs with some experience in adaptive reuse and ground up
    • Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time and establish the appropriate priorities
    • Has successfully and independently managed projects including components of large initiatives
    • Effectively and efficiently planned and managed client review and update meetings, schematic drawing reviews, bid dates confirmation, engineering consultant progress reviews, issue identification and resolution and client deliverables

    Required Interpersonal Skills for Architectural Project Manager:

    • Proven communication skills across the trades, clients and with team members
    • Strong client relationship skills
    • Takes ownership, demonstrating initiative and timely action
    • Highly motivated

    Required Competencies with Proven Proficiency of Architectural Project Manager:

    • Proven Project Management – ability to independently plan, coordinate and manage a project across all necessary disciplines and with the client, including managing personnel on day to day basis and managing to project budget
    • Scope and Schedule Administration including identifying changes in scope, researching impact including budgetary and presenting scope and add fees for principal review
    • Client Relationship Management
    • Creation of Construction Drawings and Drawing Coordination with all necessary disciplines
    • Ability to lead the process of architectural and interior detailing

    • Investigating and researching product lines and capabilities

    Required Technical Skills of Architectural Project Manager:

    • AutoCAD – 3 to 5 years’ of consecutive experience
    • Photoshop – minimum 2 years’ experience
    • Revit – preferred minimum 1 year experience
    • Sketchup or similar rending software – minimum 2 years’ experience
    • MS Suite – 5 years’ of consecutive experience

    Jr. Project Manager: 2 – 4 years’ experience

    JRS Architect, P.C. currently has a Jr. (Architectural) Project Manager position available. This role provides support to the Project Managers/Architects and manages a small or subset of larger projects under the direction of the Project Managers/Architects.

This position works with accomplished architectural design professionals who have a long standing tenure at JRS providing an excellent opportunity to learn from one’s peers. This role may have interaction with our Mineola Office, further expanding one’s reach of projects along with diversity of work. This position will be client and vendor facing and includes travel to client sites. As a “flat” organization, this position works directly across all of the JRS team.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Documents project requirements and layouts the required drawings necessary for completion including Construction Documents
    • Creates and drafts designs obtaining input from the Project Manager/Architect and the client
    • Manages project schedules; provides input into development of schedules and budget
    • Provides client support as needed which may include direct client engagement
    • Keeps the Project Manager/Architect informed of project status
    • Proactively presents solutions/alternatives for the Project Manager/Architect and client consideration
    • Adheres to project budget and timelines; proactively identifies concerns to the Project Manager/Architect
    • Researches alternative products when required.

    The successful candidate will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of AutoCad, Revit, architectural design, drafting, detailing, building codes and materials, construction techniques and costs. Key success factors are a strong understanding of project planning and timely execution with a focus on delivering projects on budget.

    Required Experience:

    • 2 + years’ experience drafting and completing construction drawings
    • Rendering
    • Handling multiple projects at the same time and establishing the appropriate priorities
    • Proven client relationship skills

    Core Competencies:

    • Drafting proficiency in AutoCAD
    • Ability to read and understand construction documents
    • Ability to collect and record survey information
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across team members, clients and the trades
